SINGAPORE – The charities watchdog received over 40 per cent fewer complaints about fund raisers seeking donations on the streets, after the Commissioner of Charities (COC) launched a set of comprehensive guidelines in March to bring about a more trustworthy and safer giving environment.

The Commissioner, Dr Ang Hak Seng, did not give the number of complaints received, but told The Straits Times that “ground sentiments” had improved since the launch of the Code of Conduct for Commercial Fund-Raisers.
