TOKYO, JAPAN – In the science-fiction adventure Ad Astra, Brad Pitt gives the sort of performance one does not often see from the actor: He is mostly still, with the face in close-up.

Pitt, 55, is known for roles that call for physicality. In the Quentin Tarantino drama Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, released last month (August), he plays a stuntman who gets into fistfights and climbs roofs to fix aerials.
