The over-40s are not the only ones who face the age discrimination problem, netizens said of their job search struggles. Some recalled they were told they were too old by prospective employers even when they were in their 30s.

Straits Times reader Yu Jin Tan said on Facebook: “Was around 32 years old when I spoke to a bank at a job fair. Told me I was overage to go into banking.”
