SINGAPORE – A humble backpacking trip to rural India in 2015 turned into an unexpected social enterprise for cousins Nasrul Rohmat, 28, and Haziq Rashid, 26.

The avid travellers are founders of the three-year-old label Project Nomad, which employs artisans in India and Indonesia to craft leather goods. Before setting up the label in early 2016, neither had any interest in handicrafts.
